Fine Dining In Hakuba & Niseko

Who said a ski holiday doesn't have to include a great culinary experience!  Japanese ski resorts deliver on this front more than many major cities and 95% of tourism destinations. From Michellen star fine dining restaurants, some truely amazing seafood to ramen, sushi, teppanyaki, soba, Italian, Mexican, steakhouse's and many many more. Here we have listed our four recommendations for the best in Hakuba and Niseko.

Mimi’s - Phoenix Hotel, Hakuba

Run by Kazuyuki and Yuki Shimamoto, Mimi’s Restaurant dishes up delicious Italian food, inspired by the wide variety of fresh locally sourced produce. The modern restaurant is located in the trendy Phoenix Hotel in Wadano, Happo One. Mimi’s has an extensive wine list and extremely knowledgeable and attentive staff, which makes this restaurant a pleasure to dine in. There is a small bar, serving up great cocktails for those pre-dinner and post-dinner beverages. Make a reservation and try Mimi’s Shinshu Wild Black Pork Loin for an incomparable foodie journey. Kamimura – Shiki Apartments, Niseko

The critically acclaimed Yuichi Kamimura, heads up the kitchen at his 40-seat restaurant located on the ground floor of Shiki Niseko in Hirafu. Kamimura previously spent five years at the well renowned Sydney’s Tetsuya's, helm.

While his cuisine is unmistakably French, chef Kamimura sources the majority of his produce -- think wagyu, duck, seafood and cheeses -- from neighbouring Hokkaido farms.

The best way to sample his craft is via the 13,000 yen-a-head, 10-course degustation menu, highlights include Haboro king prawn sashimi with prawn roe and butter sautéed Sempoushi oyster with Spanish chorizo in garlic chive sauce. For all Niseko bookings we are able to pre-book your dinner at Kamimura, Enquire Now

Pilar restaurant – Hakuba

Situated 2000 metres above sea level ¾ of the way up the Happo One ski resort in Hakuba, this French restaurant does lunch at it’s finest. A four course meal with coffee or tea will set you back just 4100 yen and is well worth the investment. Our recommended appertiser is marinated Hakuba trout and scallop with herbal leafs. Entrée, Puttanesca spaghetti with Japanese crab, main, Pilar's recommended wild game and there is an assorted cheese plate for dessert. Pre bookings can be made through Liquid Snow Tours. Enquire Now.

Ezo Seafoods – Niseko

As you enter this little wooden restaurant, you are welcomed by a display of mouth-watering fresh seafood. Humongous oysters, vibrant hokkaido crabs and uni, sole fish, rock fish, scallops, asahi clams all await to be devoured in whatever way you choose. Raw, broiled or fried.

Everything is fresh and delicious, our recommendation is the abalone with butter sauce and the asahi clam soup. Prices are also very reasonable. A meal at Ezo will set you back approximately 8,000 yen per person. Pre bookings can be made when making a holiday reservation. Enquire Now.
